Aleigh Gambone (pronounced AL-lee)
As A Junior (2021)
Played in all 18 games and made four starts • Logged 735 total minutes • Scored her lone point of the year with an assist at Florida • Assisted on Emily Colton's goal in the 46th minute, giving UNC a 4-0 lead over the Gators • Recorded 15 shots, including four on goal • Took a season-high three shots against Virginia and two at Florida and Illinois • Played a season-high 76 minutes against Stanford with over 40 minutes of action in eight additional games.
As A Sophomore (2020-21)
Appeared in all 20 games of the season, coming off the bench in all but two matches • Earned a start against Texas A&M in the NCAA Tournament and again against Santa Clara in the NCAA College Cup • Provided spark off of the bench • Recorded an assist in the season-opener against Wake Forest and again versus Duke on Sept. 27 • Turned in three assists against Tennessee in a 7-0 victory on March 27 • Attempted eight shots, including two against Boston College, her season-high • Competed in 728 minutes during the season • Took two shots in the NCAA tournament, one against Denver and one versus Texas A&M

Started seven of the 21 games she has played in this season and totaled 674 minutes played • Started opening game of her career at attacking center midfield, playing 62 minutes in 3-0 victory over Indiana • Assisted on Brianna Pinto’s goal in the 18th minute which gave the Tar Heels a 2-0 lead in that game • Came off the bench against Duke, playing 57 minutes, most of any reserve, and recording two shots on goal • Started both games on West Coast, playing 56 minutes versus Washington and 54 minutes against Portland • Started both games in Duke Nike Classic • Moved into a backup role, coming off the bench in the midfield, near the end of the non-conference season.

Attended Centreville High School in Clifton, Va. • Played varsity soccer and basketball her freshman through her junior years • Was a forward and midfielder on the pitch and a point guard on her basketball squad • In soccer, was first-team All-District (2016-18) and first-team All-Region each of those three years as well • Captained Centreville team as a senior • Washington Post All-Met selection (2017-18) • Honored in basketball with Washington All-Met honors in 2018 • Virginia Science State finalist in 2017 • Won Centreville H.S. Harvard Book Award in 2018 • Participated in Spanish National Honors Society, Math Honors Society and Key Club • Volunteered at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church in weekly soup dinner, advertisement for fundraisers and collections for Mothers In Need • Served as an SAT tutor for high school students.
