UNC Swimming Coach Frank Comfort Leads U.S. Junior National Team

CHAPEL HILL, N.C.- North Carolina head swimming coach Frank Comfort led the United States Junior National Swimming Team to an excellent showing at the 1999 World Junior Championships June 4-6, 1999 at the Saint Andrew Swimming Club in Barcelona, Spain.
As the director of operations and head men's coach for the team, Comfort led a team of 15 male and 15 female swimmers which spent May 31-June 7 in Barcelona touring and competing in the three-day championship meet. The swimmers for the team were selected on the basis of their finishes at the 1998 U.S. Swimming Summer National Championships. Twenty-six different nations had teams competing in the meet.
The U.S. Team featured two male swimmers who will be freshmen this fall at the University of North Carolina. Freshman Sean Quinn of Lancaster, S.C. finished fifth in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:22.18. Incoming freshman Judd Glasco of Richmond, Va. was the United States' men's team's most versatile swimmer competing in five events over three days 200, 400 and 1500-meter freestyles, 200-meter backstroke and 400-meter individual medley.
