Tar Heels Continue Good Work at Olympic Trials

INDIANAPOLIS, IND. - University of North Carolina swimmers continued their good efforts on Monday at the 2000 United States Olympic Swimming Trials at the IUPUI Natatorium in Indianapolis, Ind.
Junior Kevin Erndl of North Augusta, S.C. finished in a tie for 38th place in the 50-meter freestyle with a time of 23.64 seconds in Monday morning's preliminaries. Erndl is swimming this summer for the Upper Main Line Y in suburban Philadelphia.
Junior Molly Sullivan of Las Vegas, Nev. placed 31st in the preliminaries of the 800-meter freestyle. Her time was 8:58.49. Sullivan is swimming this summer for the Santa Clara Swim Club. UNC freshman Whitney Smith of Richmond, Va. was 40th in the 800-meter freestyle. Her time was 9:01.08. Smith's club team is NOVA of Virginia.
