Tar Heel Men's Golfers in 13th After Second Round of the Schenkel E-Z-GO Invitational

STATESBORO, Ga. -
North Carolina's men's golf team fired first and second round scores of 297 and 296 respectively the rest in 13th place with one round to go in the Schenkel E-Z-GO Invitational. Leading the 15 team field are Georgia and Clemson who each sit with 9-under par scores of 567. Rounding out the top five teams are Georgia Southern, Florida, and Northwestern.
Individually, the competitive field is currently led by Georgia's Nick Cassini. Cassini fired rounds of 71-67 to hold a one-shot lead at 6-under par. Close behind in second place is North Carolina's Dustin Bray and Georgia's Bryant Odom. Bray fired rounds of 71-68, while Odom carded rounds of 68-71. The duo sits at 5-under par. Rounding out the top five are Clemson's D. J. Trahan and Florida's Bubba Dickerson who each are positioned at 4-under par. Dickerson's first round 66 is the low round of the tournament. Tar Heel Rob Simmons is the next closest of the Tar Heels. Simmons is currently tied for 28th after carding rounds of 73-73.
The Invitational is being played at the Forest Heights Country Club in Statesboro, Ga. The par 72 6945 yard layout will see final round action on Sunday beginning at 8:00 a.m. The tournament field contains 10 of the nation's top 20 teams and 15 of the top 20 individual players.
