Jessi Perruquet, junior from Daville, Pa. She won the 100- and 200-yard freestyles and anchored the winning 400-yard freestyle relay team to lead the UNC women's swimmers to a sweep of 20th-ranked Florida State and Rutgers last Saturday.
Women's basketball point guard Coretta Brown equaled her career high and led UNC to a win with 28 points Sunday at Florida State. With a busload of friends and family from Statesboro, Ga., in attendance, the senior guard hit a season-high five-three pointers, which moved her into third place on UNC's career three-pointers list. For the week, she averaged 18.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 3.5 steals as the Tar Heels improved to 14-1.
Wrestler Dustin Heist ended the Virginia Duals with a perfect 4-0 record in the 184-pound weight class for the Tar Heels this past weekend. The sophomore began the tournament with a victory over 15th ranked Jason Potter (Illinois) 5-3. The Meadville, Pa., native then picked up a major decision over Army's Matt Bernard 13-4 to end day one 2-0. In the opening match of day two, Heist defeated Rider's Mike Robinson 3-0 and edged Edinboro's Alex Clemsen 3-2 in his final match of the duals.
