Four Tar Heels Named To Face-Off Yearbook Preseason All-America Team

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Four University of North Carolina Tar Heels have been named to the Face-Off Yearbook preseason All-America teams announced Thursday by Inside Lacrosse Magazine. Senior attackman Billy Bitter of Manhasset, N.Y. and senior defenseman Ryan Flanagan of West Islip, N.Y. were honored as first-team choices with junior midfielder Jimmy Dunster of Cos Cob, Conn. on the second team and junior defenseman Charlie McComas of Parkton, Md. on the third team.
Bitter has been named a first-team postseason All-America by the U.S. Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association each of the past two years while Flanagan was a first-team choice last year and a third-team selection in 2009. Both Dunster and McComas were honorable mention USILA honorees in 2010.
Bitter played in 15 games last year and was the team's second-leading scorer with 44 points on 22 goals and 22 assists. His assist total was the second on the UNC team in 2010. He scored his 22 goals on only 78 shots. He also had one of the team's top ground ball totals with 42.
Flanagan led UNC in 2010 in caused turnovers and he ws second in ground balls with 51. He started all 16 games for Carolina in 2010.
Dunster was UNC's sixth-leading scorer in 200 with 30 points. He scored 17 goals on a team-leading 95 shots and had 24 ground balls and 13 assists.
McComas started 15 games for UNC in 2010 and had 40 ground balls.
Earlier in the week, UNC was rnaked No. 3 by Face-Off Yearbook entering the 2011 campaign.
