Pigot Finishes Up Excellent World Championships

KAZAN, RUSSIA - Incoming Tar Heel freshman swimmer Zuhayr Pigot (Miami, Fla.) heads to Chapel Hill next week to enroll after an excellent perfomance this past week at the 16th FINA World Championships held in Kazan Arena Stadium.
Representing Suriname, Pigot placed 43rd last Sunday in the 50-meter butterfly in an 80-man field. His time was 24.76 seconds.
Friday, he completed his Championships by swimming a career best time of 54.20 seconds in the 100-meter butterfly. He placed 42nd in the 73-man field of that event.
Tar Heel swimmers are also competing at the U.S. and Canadian National Championships through Monday.
