Duncan Sherrard will serve as assistant coach for women’s team.
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Highlighted by 13 members of the USA Swimming National Team, a 40-swimmer United States roster is set for next month's World University Games, held Aug. 20-27 in Taipei City, Taiwan.
The U.S. women's team at the World University Games will include 2017 Tar Heel alumna Hellen Moffitt as well as rising senior Caroline Baldwin. UNC assistant coach Duncan Sherrard will serve as a member of the women's team coaching staff under the direction of Texas' Carol Capitani.
Selections for the event were based off finishes at last month's U.S. Swimming Phillips 66 National Championships in Indianpolis.
Moffitt, a current Women's National Team member, had qualified to swim for the U.S. team in Taipei City in the 50-meter and 100-meter butterfly. Moffitt is a native of Alexandria, Va., who is doing her post-graduate swimming under the tutelage of the Tar Heel coaching staff at North Carolina Aquatic Club.
Baldwin, a Westfield, N.J., native, is a rising senior on the Tar Heel team who has qualified in the 50-meter and 100-meter freestyle events. Both Moffitt and Baldwin were 2017 NCAA first-team All-Americas.
Duncan Sherrard, heading into his third year as a UNC assistant coach, will serve as one of three assistant coaches for the women's team at the World University Games.
Featuring swimmers ages 17-23 who are current college students or recent graduates, the World University Games has been a springboard to international success for numerous swimmers.
