GREENSBORO, N.C. — Junior Bryanna Cameron capped off the Tar Heel performances at the 2018 USA Swimming Winter National Championships in resounding fashion. Cameron swam not one but two qualifying times for the Olympic Trials in the women's 200-meter butterfly prelims and A final. The Bradford, Mass. native finished her prelim race fifth overall, setting a new career-best time of 2:13.57. Cameron went on to finish sixth in the final and swam 2:13.92 to once again clear the Olympic Trial cut-off.
Just recently, Cameron set a personal record in the women's 200-yard freestyle, 200-yard butterfly and 400-yard IM at the Georgia Tech Invitational. She ranks at the top of UNC's depth chart in three events and also swam a personal-best time in the 200-yard IM against South Carolina. Cameron joins freshman Sophie Lindner as the second Tar Heel to qualify for the 2020 trials at Winter Nationals.
Lindner made another impressive appearance just one day after qualifying, swimming 2:15.69 in the women's 200-meter backstroke prelims before besting that time to finish eighth overall in the A final (2:15.35).
