ACC Women's Swimming & Diving Championships Kick Off Wednesday

Men's divers also compete this week.
GREENSBORO, N.C. - The 40th annual Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Swimming and Diving Championships begin Wednesday and run through Saturday at the Greensboro Aquatics Center.
In addition to the women's swimmers and divers competing this week, the three men's diving events will also take place. The men's diving scores will take be added to the men's swimming scores when those Championships are held February 21-24 in Greensboro.
The Tar Heels will take a team of 18 women's swimmers and three divers to this week's championships. Carolina is currently the 18th-ranked team in the nation according to the College Swimming Coaches Association of America.
Diving preliminaries are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday with two relay and two diving finals slated that afternoon beginning at 4:15 p.m.
On Thursday, Friday and Saturday, preliminaries begin each of those days at 10 a.m. with finals at 6 p.m.

UNC Women's Swimmers & Divers at ACC Championships
Baker, Sydney, Freshman, Spartanburg, S.C.
• Has a twin sister, Maddie, on Tar Heel team.
• Has career best times of 1:01.99 in 100-yard breaststroke, 2:12.57 in 200-yard breaststroke and 2:00.00 in 200-yard individual medley.
• Carolina's third fastest 200 IM swimmer in regular season.
• Her father played lacrosse at Bucknell and an older sister played lacrosse at Virginia.
Baldwin, Caroline, Senior, Westfield, N.J.
• Two-time team captain (2016-17 and 2017-18).
• Won gold, silver and bronze medals for U.S. at 2017 World University Games. Won the gold in the 50-meter freestyle, silver as anchor leg of 400-yard medley relay and bronze on 400-meter freestyle relay.
• 2017 First-Team All-America in 50-yard freestyle.
• Swam on four Tar Heel relays which set University records in 2017 – 200 medley, 400 medley, 200 freestyle, 400 freestyle.
• Enters ACC meet with Carolina's top times in 50 free at 21.48, in 100 free at 47.14 and in 100 back at 51.95.

• She is the fifth fastest performer ever in UNC history in the 50-yard freestyle.
• 2017 honorable mention All-America as member of 400-yard freestyle relay team.

Boswell, Madison, Senior, Richmond, Va.
• Ranks as ninth fastest performer in Carolina history in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:13.94.
• Career best times are 1:58.59 in 200-yard butterfly and 4:13.94 in 400-yard individual medley.
• Ranks third on Tar Heel depth chart in 2017-18 in 200 fly.
Cameron, Bryanna, Sophomore, Bradford, Mass.
• Scored in three events at the 2017 ACC Championships in consolation finals
• Carolina's fastest swimmer this year in the 200-yard butterfly with a career best time of 1:57.37 and in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:17.25, just off her career best time of 4:16.82.
• Has career best time of 4:47.66 in 500-yard freestyle. Currently ranks third on team depth chart in the event in 2017-18 with time of 4:50.36.
• Has the eighth fastest 200-yard butterfly time in the ACC in 2017-18.
Cole, Emma, Freshman, Marietta, Ga.
• During regular season she was UNC's fastest 100-yard butterflier with a career best 53.81 and the team's third fastest 100-yard freestyler with a season best 49.47, just off her career best time of 49.30. Her season best time in the 50-yard freestyle was 22.78, just shy of her career best of 23.69.
• Is the ninth fastest performer ever in the 100-yard butterfly in Tar Heel history at 53.81.
• Daughter of a pair of UNC swimmers – Cameron Cole, UNC Class of 1991, and Melissa Douse, UNC Class of 1992. Cole won ACC team titles at UNC in 1988, 1989 and 1991. Douse won ACC team titles in 1991 and 1992. Douse was the most valuable swimmer at the 1992 ACC championships and the 1992 ACC women's swimmer of the year.
Dryer, Robyn, Junior, Springfield, Va.
• Has had a tremendous junior season. Posted career bests in 1000-yard freestyle at 9:49.86 and in the 1650-yard freestyle at 16:16.25. She is now the eighth fastest performer in UNC history in both events.
• Possesses the seventh fastest times in the ACC this year in both the 1000-yard and 1650-yard freestyles.
• Ranks first on the team in 2017-18 in the 500-yard freestyle with a career best time of 4:46.87 and she is third on the team in the 200-yard freestyle with a career best 1:48.93.
Fields, Zhada, Junior, Toledo, Ohio
• The 10th fastest UNC performer ever in the 200-yard freestyle at Carolina with a time of 1:46.92.
• Is Carolina's fastest 200-yard freestyler this year at 1:47.25. Is fourth fastest Tar Heel in 2017-18 with career bests in the 50-yard freestyle at 22.61 and 100-yard freestyle at 49.59.
• Carolina's second fastest 500-yard freestyler this season with a career best time of 4:48.35. Ranks third on team depth chart in 100-yard butterfly with career best 54.24.
• 2016 NCAA honorable mention All-America.
Ford, Katie, Senior, Mount Lebanon, Pa.
• Has career best times of 22.88 in the 50-yard freestyle, 50.48 in the 100-yard freestyle, 54.67 in the 100-yard backstroke and 1:59.09 in the 200-yard backstroke.
Hauder, Caroline, Freshman, Charlotte, N.C.
• Swam a 1:55.84 in the 200-yard backstroke in the fall, making her the eighth fastest Tar Heel ever in the event.
• During the regular season she swam a 1:00.27 in the 100-yard breaststroke, making her the second fastest Tar Heel ever in the event behind only school record holder Layne Brodie's time of 1:00.02.
• Recorded a time of 1:57.37 in the 200-yard individual medley in the regular season, moving her into the second fastest spot in Tar Heel history in the event.
• Named ACC Swimmer of the Week on January 16, 2018.
• Ranks fourth in the ACC this year in the 100-yard breaststroke and ninth in the 200-yard breaststroke. She ranks fifth in the league in the 200-yard IM in 2017-18.
• Carolina's second fastest 200-yard freestyler in 2017-18 with a career best 1:47.99. No. 1 on the team depth chart in the 200 back and 200 IM and third in 100 back.
• Her great grandfather Herman Triplett was member of 1942 World Series champion St. Louis Cardinals.

• Has a career best time of 1:56.93 in the 200-yard backstroke, making her the 10th fastest Tar Heel ever in the event.
• During the 2017-18 season, she ranked third on team depth chart in 200 backstroke while she was fourth in the 100 backstroke and 200 individual medley. She also ranked second in the 100-yard butterfly with a career best 54.11.
• Both of her parents and her brother are UNC graduates.

• Career best times are 1:48.74 in the 200-yard freestyle, 4:48.97 in the 500-yard freestyle and 16:29.34 in the 1650-yard freestyle.

• Career best times of 54.02 in the 100-yard backstroke, 1:55.20 in the 200-yard backstroke, 1:59.81 in the 200-yard individual medley and 4:13.78 in the 400-yard individual medley.
Perrotta, Brooke, Freshman, Wilmington, Conn.
• Tremendous freshman who has already moved into the all-time Carolina Top 10 in both breaststrokes. Swam a 1:01.34 in the 100-yard event to rank seventh in UNC history. Posted a time of 2:12.79 in the 200-yard distance to rank ninth in Carolina history.
• Currently ranks eighth in the ACC in both the 100-yard breaststroke and 200-yard breaststroke on the top times chart.
Reiter, Allie, Freshman, Dunwoody, Ga.
• A freshman who during the 2017-18 school year ranked third on the team depth chart in the 100-yard breaststroke at 1:02.18 and third on the depth chart in the 200-yard breaststroke at 2:14.10, a career best.
Slabe, Emily, Senior, Liberty Township, Ohio
• 2017-18 team co-captain with Caroline Baldwin.
• Career best time in 100-yard backstroke is 53.96, making her the ninth fastest Tar Heel in the event in history.
• Career best time in the 200-yard backstroke is 1:55.80, making her the seventh fastest Tar Heel ever in the event.
• On the 2017-18 UNC depth chart she ranks second in 100 back and also in the 200 back.
Smith, Maddie, Freshman, Lake Forest, Ill.
• Has recorded a time of 22.42 in the 50-yard freestyle this year which makes her the seventh fastest performer in the event in Tar Heel history.
• Her season best in the 100-yard freestyle is 49.17, which moved her into ninth place all-time amongst performers in the event in Tar Heel history.
• Has the ninth fastest time in the ACC this year in the 50-yard freestyle. She is the Tar Heels' second fastest 100-yard freestyler and third fastest 50-yard freestyler in 2017-18. Ranks fourth on current team depth chart in 100 fly with career best 54.27.
Soule, Mary-O, Freshman, Asheville, N.C.
• Has career best times of 2:02.47 in 200-yard individual medley, 4:15.64 in the 400-yard individual medley, 54.85 in the 100-yard butterfly and 1:58.45 in the 200-yard butterfly.
Dawson, Elissa, Senior, Durham, N.C.
• Named ACC Women's Diver of the Week on November 7, 2017 and November 14, 2017.
• Her best diving scores of the 2017-18 school year place her at the top of the ACC standings in three-meter diving and platform diving and fourth in one-meter diving.
• Won two bronze medals at 2017 ACC Championships in platform and three-meter. Placed 10th in platform diving at 2017 NCAA Championships.
• Took ninth place in a pair of events at 2016 NCAA Championships.

• Has second highest score in the ACC this year in one-meter diving with 384.90 points. Has the league's sixth best three-meter score at 408.15.
• Winner of three-meter championship at 2017 U.S. Diving Summer National Championships. At the same meet, he was the silver medalist in one-meter diving.
• Represented U.S. at 2016 FINA Junior World Championships where he placed seventh in one-meter diving.
