Freshman excelled at Janis Hape Dowd Nike Invitational
North Carolina's Maddie Baker, a freshman from Spartanburg, S.C., has been named the ACC Women's Swimmer of the Week for January 29 through February 4.
Baker turned in a strong showing for the Tar Heels at the Janis Hape Dowd Nike Invitational, swimming against No. 10 NC State and No. 25 Duke. The freshman from Anderson, South Carolina, won all three events in which she competed, and posted NCAA provisional times in each. Baker won the 200 fly with a time of 1:59.18, the 200 IM with a time of 2:00.87, and clocked a 400 IM time of 4:18.84.
Baker also turned in her career best times in all three events, taking significant time offer her previous career bests in each event.
