Tar Heels Finish East Preliminaries with Seven Qualifiers

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Seven Tar Heels will compete at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships next month following standout performances during four days of competition at the NCAA East Preliminaries, which wrapped up on Saturday evening at the University of North Florida's Hodges Stadium.
The NCAA Championships are set for June 9-12 in Eugene, Ore. Tar Heels who qualified this week are:
• Daniel McArthur, men's shot put
• Jill Shippee, women's hammer throw
• Madison Wiltrout, women's javelin
• Jesse Hunt, men's 1500m
• Brandon Tubby, men's 1500m
• Conor Lundy, men's 5000m
• Thomas Ratcliffe, men's 5000m
The final women's events finished up on Saturday, with four individuals and a relay team competing for UNC.
