November 3, 2023 | Swimming & Diving
COLUMBIA, S.C. – The UNC men's swimming and diving team posted a 161-139 win over host South Carolina at the Carolina Natatorium on Friday, while the Tar Heels and Gamecocks had a perfect 150-150 tie on the women's side.
The UNC men improved to 3-0 in dual meet competition after winning eight events, and the women stand at 2-0-1 following seven event victories today.
"Today we faced some adversity from a good team at South Carolina," UNC head coach Mark Gangloff said. "I'm very proud of how our team responded when we got pushed back in a few races. Our team broke several pool records today and a lot of people went best times which is an excellent indicator based on how hard we're working.
"I am very excited going into our mid-season invitationals."
The Tar Heels opened the meet with a victory in the women's 200-yard medley relay team with the foursome of Greer Pattison, Katja Pavicevic, Michaela Chokureva, and Olivia Nel finishing the race 0.32 ahead of the Gamecocks' top unit.
