It was the first world championship medal for Vazquez, who represented the Mexico delegation at the 2020 Tokyo Games and will likely participate in her second Olympic Games next year.
No stranger to the podium, Vazquez has won six championship medals in 2023, sweeping the one-meter and three-meter springboard competitions at the ACC and NCAA Championships while also claiming first place on the platform at the ACC championship meet.
Vazquez was named the CSCAA NCAA Division I Women's Diver of the Year after becoming the first diver in program history to win a national championship. She was also selected ACC Diver of the Year for the second time in her illustrious career.
Vazquez will compete in the women's three-meter synchronized diving on Sunday, July 16, and then the three-meter beginning Wednesday, July 19.
