Women's Swimming Sending Seven To NCAA Championships

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Seven UNC women's swimming and diving team members have qualified to compete in the 2024 NCAA Division I Women's Championships, March 20-23, at the Jack Bauerle Pool at Gabrielsen Natatorium in Athens, Ga.

Graduate transfers Delaney Carlton and Katja Pavicevic, seniors Lexi Rudolph and Ellie VanNote, juniors Greer Pattison and Skyler Smith, and sophomore Emma Karam have been selected to represent the Tar Heels.

VanNote is making her fourth appearance at the national championship meet, and Pattison her third. VanNote qualified for the meet in the 100 butterfly, while Pattison made the cut in the 100 backstroke.
Carlton is returning to the NCAA Championship for the second straight season after competing for UNC Asheville last year. She will race in the 50-yard freestyle.Â

Pavicevic and Rudolph will compete in the 200 breaststroke, and Smith will participate in the 100 breaststroke. Karam received her first invitation to the championship meet in the 200 backstroke.

Georgia Nel, Lily Reader, Madeline Smith, and Elizabeth Sowards will be relay alternates.
Â
Swimmers qualified for the championships by meeting the established minimum time for the events they entered. Divers will be determined by performances at the Zone Diving Championships, held March 10-16.

ESPN+ will provide live digital coverage for preliminary and finals sessions Wednesday through Saturday.Â
