Track & Field Will Send Five To NCAA Outdoors Championships As Regionals Conclude

LEXINGTON, KY.–Tar Heel women took center stage on the fourth and final day of the 2024 NCAA East First Round, hosted by the University of Kentucky. After the east regional men's teams concluded their competition on Friday, the women did the same on Saturday.
The Tar Heels will send a combined five competitors to Eugene, Oregon, June 5-8:
Ethan Strand (men's 1,500m)
Craig Saddler II (men's 400m hurdles)
Parker Wolfe (men's 5,000m)
Alex Phillip (men's 10000m)
Makayla Paige (women's 800m)
    • Makayla Paige punched her ticket to Eugene finishing second in her heat and fourth overall with a time of 2:00.98.
    • The Tar Heels 4x400m relay team took 20th place in a time of 3:36.94
    • Sydney Banks finished 30th place in the high jump with a height of 1.76m (5-9 ¼)
    • Fatima Alanis finished 23rd in the 5,000m in 16:21.07
