2017-18: Topped off his season by swimming his fastest times of the year in the 100-yard fly (47.84) and the 200-yard fly (1:48.68) • Also swam a leg of the 200-yard medley relay that placed sixth at ACC Championships • Won the 200-yard medley relay in meets against Virginia Tech as well as Penn State and Navy • Earned ten top-three finishes throughout the season.
Junior College: Graduated from Indian River State College in Florida where he was coached by Sion Brinn • National Junior College Swimmer of the Year in his sophomore season • That season he set NJCAA national records in the 50 fly, 100 fly and 200 fly • NJCAA national title winner as a sophomore in the 50 fly, 100 fly, 200 fly and as a member of 200 medley relay, 400 medley relay and 200 free relay teams • Took bronze in 50 free as sophomore • As a freshman he was named to Dean’s List in summer of 2016 • National champion his first year in the 50 fly, 100 fly and as member of 200 and 400 medley relay units • Took silver as freshman in 100 back and bronze in 200 fly.
Prep: Attended St. Augustine High School from 2011-15 • Coached in high school by Frank Holleman • State champion in 100 fly (49.43) and state runnerup in the 100 back (51.34) • School record holder in 100 free, 100 fly and 100 back.
Personal: Full name is Nicholas Ryan Loomis • Son of Tammy Loomis and Phil Loomis • Born May 5, 1997 in his native Florida • Majoring in exercise and sports science • Works as an ocean rescue lifeguard/first responder for St. Johns County Fire Rescue • Surfs in free time • Competes for his home county in Lifesaving Competitions for United States Lifesaving Association (USLA).
