Bio
LINDSEY HARRIS
Dorrance on Lindsey: Lindsey Harris if she decides to go after it could be a national calibre goalkeeper. I believe she has the talent to play in the NWSL and compete with other goalkeepers who are out there. She is capable of the big save. We haven’t had too many big save goalkeepers. Jenni Branam would be one. Ashlyn Harris would be another. There’s just a small class of big save goalkeepers but Lindsey Harris would be in that category. Her key isn’t to make the great save and then miss the elementary save. Right now her consistency is her challenge. As she gets more consistent and doesn’t let any of the easy ones in she will make the occasional great save for us that will win a game for us or keep us in a game. And I think she’ll also have a successful professional career. And she is one of the best goalkeepers with her feet that we’ve ever had here at North Carolina.
Senior Year (2016): Heads into her redshirt senior year as the starter at the goalkeeper position • spent her first three seasons in a goalkeeper rotation where she normally played the second half of each game while Bryane Heaberlin played the opening half.
Redshirt Junior Year (2015): As a junior she started both games in her hometown of Austin versus Texas & UTSA • made a season-high five saves in the tie against Cal, playing the second half and two overtime periods • also had four saves in ACC Tournament semifinal versus FSU • allowed seven goals in 916 minutes of action, making 21 saves • had a 6-3-1 goalkeeping record • earned first career point when she assisted on Emily Bruder’s goal against Fresno State.
Redshirt Sophomore Year (2014): Alternated starting assignments in the goal with Bryane Heaberlin • played in 18 matches, starting six • missed the Arkansas and Notre Dame matches after sustaining a leg injury in the second half against Penn State • played 882 minutes, making 30 saves and allowing just five goals • her goalie record was 8-1-2 • had a goals against average of 0.51 and a save percentage of .857 • her season high and career high for saves in a game ws six against Florida State • was named to 2014-15 ACC Academic Honor Roll.
Redshirt Freshman Year (2013): Appeared in two games • saw time against VCU and Kennesaw State, clocking 19 minutes • made first save of her career in final minute of 4-0 win over VCU, preserving a shutout for the Tar Heels • tapped for 2013-14 ACC Academic Honor Roll • ranked #3 on the goalkeeper depth chart behind Anna Sieloff and Bryane Heaberlin.
Freshman Year (2012): Redshirted during the 2012 season • retained four years of eligibility • a Rising Star in the Carolina Leadership Academy • named to Dean’s List in both semesters of her freshman year • tapped for 2012-13 ACC Academic Honor Roll.
High School: Graduated in 2012 from Westlake High School • played basketball for two years before concentrating on soccer as junior and senior • as a junior, she played in 23 games and recorded 17 shutouts • played in 27 games as a senior and had 17 shutouts • finished her high school career with 34 shutouts and an 0.38 goals against average, allowing only 19 goals in 50 matches • a TASCO second-team All-State and first-team All-Region II selection in 2012 • selected to play in TASCO Senior Soccer Showcase • a 2011 NSCAA high school All-America • garnered honors as 2011 NSCAA state player of the year • ranked in ESPN Class of 2012 Top 150 • ESPN Rise National Player of the Week on March 9, 2011 • All-Central Texas goalkeeper of the year in both 2011 and 2012 • was Westlake soccer team MVP her junior and senior years • a 2012 Academic All-State honoree • member of National Honor Society • won AP Scholar Award • had a final GPA of 103.5 on a 100-point scale • earned 27 collegiate hours with AP tests and college credits while in high school.
Club: Named to state ODP pool in both 2007 and 2010 • played in summer 2012 with a ’93 ECNL team at national tournament in Chicago.
Personal: Lindsey Burke Harris is the daughter of Russ and Terri Harris • was born in November 1993 in Houston, Texas • admits to being able to solve a Rubic’s Cube in less than two minutes and to a love of dancing • mathematics major with minors in Spanish and physics.
