General--Three-year letter winner and Dean's List student...one of the most improved players in the United States last season...chosen by Soccer America as a preseason All-America defender heading into the 1999 season...started all 26 games for the Tar Heels last season...coach Anson Dorrance says she was one of the two most improved players on the team during the 1997 season...she is composed, strong on the ball, a good playmaker and a top-flight all-around player.
1998 Season--Started all 26 games for the Tar Heels last season and developed into a top-flight defender...second-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference selection...honorable mention All-America choice by Soccer News and College Soccer Weekly Online...scored three goals and had two assists...scored the game-tying goal against Duke in the ACC Tournament quarterfinals...that goal forced the game into overtime and the Tar Heels went on to win 5-1...also had goals against San Francisco and against UNC-Charlotte...recorded assists against Portland (regular-season game) and Maryland...named to All-Tournament Team at 1998 Duke adidas Women's Soccer Classic...named to the 1998-99 ACC Academic Honor Roll after earning a 3.770 grade point average last school year while double majoring in anthropology and Spanish.
1997 Season--Was chosen for a spot on the 1997-98 ACC Academic Honor Roll...earned a 3.389 GPA last year in anthropology...made the Dean's List in the fall semester 1997 with a 3.5 GPA and in the spring semester 1998 with a 3.306 GPA...played in 28 games for the Tar Heels last season, starting seven of the last nine games of the season...had three goals and seven assists for 13 points...had game-winning goals against Florida State in the first round of the ACC Tournament and against Florida in the second round of the NCAA Tournament...had two assists in the ACC Tournament final versus Maryland...assisted on the game-winning goal in the NCAA championship game.
1996 Season--Saw limited action for the Tar Heels in her freshman year...played in 18 games, earning starts against Clemson and William & Mary...had assists in the regular-season win over Virginia and versus Vanderbilt...named to 1996-97 ACC Academic Honor Roll.
Prep--A dominant central midfielder at Needham Broughton High School in Raleigh, N.C....named by USA Today as one of Top 20 recruits in the country in 1996...was named to the National Soccer Coaches Association girls' All-America Team in both 1995 and 1996...1995 Parade All-America...member of the Under-20 National Team...also played two years on under-17 national team...1994 and 1995 North Carolina high school player of the year, conference player of the year and region player of the year...scored 43 goals in 1995 and finished with a career total of 98...was first Carolina signee to ever play in North Carolina East-West All-Star Game in Greensboro...multiple winner of all-conference, all-region and all-state accolades during her career...twice a member of the Umbro South Region Team...the Raleigh News & Observer's Player of the Year three times...member of Broughton's 1994 state championship team...also led Broughton to 4A state runner-up finish in 1995...team reached state finals in '93...played on numerous select teams...also participated in basketball and tennis and Broughton...member of National Honor Society and the service club...was member of '77 Raleigh Strikers which won under-18 national championship in July 1995.
