General: A three-time returning letter winner who excels at the sprint and middle distance freestyle events...earned honorable mention All-America honors as a junior with a breakthrough year...a member of UNC's record setting 200 and 400 free relay units...had an impressive junior year, showing continued improvement in the pool and classroom...a Veteran Leader in the Carolina Leadership Academy.
Long Course Highlights: Swam the 200-meter freestyle at the 2009 U.S. Open.
2010-11 (Junior): Earned honorable mention All-America honors in the 400-yard freestyle relay...was member of UNC unit which placed 11th at NCAA Championships...helped establish school records in 200 and 400 freestyle relays...swam on 400 free relay which earned runner-up status at 2011 ACC Championships...individually at the conference meet, he was 15th in the 100 free in 44.53, 18th in the 200 free in 1:38.79 and 22nd in the 50 free in 20.42...named to Dean's List in spring semester 2011...tapped for ACC Academic Honor Roll.
2009-10 (Sophomore): At the 2010 Triangle College Cup he won the championships in the 100 free (44.97, personal best) and the 200 free (1:37.91)...also took a second place in that meet in the 50 free (20.75)...a spring 2010 Dean's List selection...named to 2009-10 ACC Academic Honor Roll.
2008-09 (Freshman): Swam as an exhibition entry at the ACC Championships where he swam personal best times in the 50 free (20.73), 100 free (45.19) and 200 free (1:37.82)...named to the 2008-09 ACC Academic Honor Roll.
Prep: A 2008 graduate of the Landon School in Bethesda, Md. ...swam in sprint free events and ran cross country...named All-America in the 50 and 100 freestyles his senior year...Academic All-America his junior year...high school swim team captain...was the champion at his high school Metro meet in the 100 free his sophomore year and in the 50 free his senior year...All-Met swimmer his senior year...an age group national champion in long course meters 50 freestyle in 2002 and 2004 and a fifth-place finisher in 2006...part of Curl-Burke's NCSA Junior National team for four years where he helped the squad win the combined team high score awards in 2005 and 2006... swam on Curl-Burke men's teams that posted overall high score in 2007 at nationals and took third place in 2008.

Section #1: Swimming & Diving
1. The best thing about being a Tar Heel swimmer is being able to represent the University of North Carolina every day in and out of the pool.
2. My favorite thing about competing for Coach DeSelm is that he's a boss.
3. Since last year the aspect of my training I've worked on the most is swimming faster.
4. My best friend on another college swimming team is Andrew Relihan at Maryland.
5. My greatest strength as a swimmer is that I love swimming.
Section #2: Hobbies & Interests
1. Away from the pool and academic pursuits I like to spend time watching and playing other sports and playing my bass.
2. The best movie I've seen recently is The Fighter.
3. If I could compete in another sport at UNC it would be basketball.
4. The music act I'd most like to see in person is The Expendables.
5. The personal interest I have that might surprise my teammates is limbo-ing.
Section #3: Food & Beverage
1. After a big meet, I'd like to eat at a buffet spread that included steak, guacamole, mashed potatoes and cheese.
2. My favorite beverage is grape juice.
3. My favorite food made by a relative is my Mom's roast.
