UNC Sets School Record in 200 Free Relay

ATHENS, GA. - The University of North Carolina women's swimming team set the school record in the 200-yard freestyle relay Saturday at the Bulldog Invitational at Gabrielson Natatorium. UNC sophomore Alison Clemens also swam into the Tar Heel record books by swimming the third fastest time in school history in the 100-yard breaststroke.
Day Two of the Bulldog Invitational continues on Sunday.
The Tar Heels' 200-yard freestyle relay was clocked in 1:31.09, breaking the school record of 1:31.34 the Tar Heels set last weekend in the ACC Championships. The UNC relay consisted of Kelsey Morrissy (23.13), Rebecca Kane (22.46), Eliza Butts (22.75) and Megan Steeves (22.75). Carolina's time in an NCAA "B" qualifying time.
UNC's Alison Clemens swam a career best of 1:02.22 in the 100-yard breaststroke, eclipsing her old career best of 1:02.89. That moved the sophomore from Staten Island, N.Y., into third place all-time in the event at UNC behind only Katie Hathaway and Becky Acker.
