Swim & Dive Head To UVA For Tri-Meet

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The University of North Carolina swimming and diving teams will continue their season in preparation for next month's ACC Championships this weekend as they travel to Charlottesville, Va., for a two-day tri-meet with Virginia and NC State.
The meet will begin at 2:30 on Friday, Jan. 19, and 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 20. The meet will be streamed on ACCN Extra and live results can be accessed with a subscription to the MeetMobile app.
The Virginia women are the top-ranked team in the country, while NC State is No. 8 and UNC is No. 20.
The NC State men are the highest-ranked among the threesome at No. 4, followed by Virginia at No. 18. The UNC men are unranked but are coming off a dual meet victory over No. 24 SMU.
The UNC women are led by juniors Skyler Smith and Greer Pattison, who rank one and two on the team in points scored this season. Smith has qualified for the 2024 U.S. Olympic Trials in the 100 breaststroke and posted an NCAA B qualifying time in the event against South Carolina earlier this season.
Pattison owns the team's top time in the 100 backstroke of 51.97, an NCAA B qualifying mark. Pattison and Smith are part of the Tar Heels' 400 free relay team, which previously registered an NCAA B qualifying time.
Senior All-America diver Aranza Vazquez Montaño continues preparation for postseason competition. She has been named ACC Diver of the Week four times this season and has won all eight events in which she has competed this year.
Freshman Sebastian Lunak and sophomore Louis Dramm have scored the most points for the UNC men this season. Both have registered in NCAA B qualifying time in the 200 butterfly while Dramm has also met the standard in the 400 IM.
Lunak has finished first in his four 200 butterfly dual meet races this season.
In the diving well, Alex Hart, Carter Loftin and Rodolfo Vazquez Montaño have all qualified for the NCAA men's regional zone championships.
