Women's Swim & Dive Set For NCAA Championships

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The University of North Carolina women's swimming and diving team is set to compete in the 2024 NCAA Championships this week, March 20-23, at the Jack Bauerle Pool at Gabrielsen Natatorium in Athens, Ga.

The event starts Wednesday night with the 200-yard medley and 800-yard freestyle relays. The remainder of the championships will have prelims each day beginning at 10 a.m. ET with the finals slated for 6 p.m. All four days of the event will be streamed on ESPN+.

Senior diver Aranza Vazquez Montaño will look to repeat as NCAA Champion in the 1-meter and 3-meter springboard competitions. She posted a score of 358.75 on the 1-meter springboard and 385.80 in the 3-meter event to capture the first national diving titles in school history.

Graduate transfers Delaney Carlton and Katja Pavicevic, seniors Lexi Rudolph and Ellie VanNote, juniors Greer Pattison and Skyler Smith, and sophomore Emma Karam will represent the Tar Heels in Athens. Georgia Nel, Lily Reader, Madeline Smith, and Elizabeth Sowards will be relay alternates.

Skyler Smith earned honorable mention All-America honors in the 100 breaststroke as did VanNote in the 200 butterfly last season.

UNC finished in 10th place last season to capture the program's first top 10 finish since 2001. The Tar Heels have placed among the top 15 each of the last three seasons, finishing 12th in 2021 and 14th in 2022.
