Women's Swim & Dive Finishes 17th At NCAA Championships

ATHENS, Ga. – The UNC women's swimming and diving team wrapped up its 2023-24 season on Saturday with a 17th-place finish at the NCAA Division I Women's Swimming and Diving Championships. It was the fourth consecutive season that the Tar Heels posted a top 20 finish under coach Mark Gangloff.
Katja Pavicevic earned All-America honorable mention status with a 16th-place overall finish in the 200-yard breaststroke. She finished 13th in the preliminaries to advance to the consolation finals.
Ellie VanNote, Georgia Nel, Greer Pattison and Elizabeth Sowards teamed up to finish 21st in the 400-freestyle relay to close the season.
VanNote, Nel, Pattison and Skyler Smith earned honorable mention All-America honors in the 400-medley relay on Friday night with a 12th place.
For the week, North Carolina scored 77 points and claimed two individual national titles with Aranza Vazquez Montaño repeating as NCAA 1-meter and 3-meter springboard champion. UNC had four individuals earn All-America honorable mention accolades as Pattison, Smith and VanNote finished among the top 16 in their respective events earlier in the week.
