Kelly's split at the 1000-yard mark of 9:57.94 was her best time of the season at that distance.
Sophomore Carly Smith, who earned first-team All-America honors Friday night in the 100-yard backstroke, did not fare as well in the 200-yard backstroke as she placed 20th in a time of 1:55.08.
In addition to Kane's outstanding performance in the 100 free, sophomore Stephanie Eisenring finished 56th in the event in 50.25. That time was just off Eisenring's career best of 49.80.
